For the past 20 years I have worked to provide a compassionate and therapeutic setting so that each person that enters my office can achieve a healthy balance, more meaningful relationships, better communication and much more. I consider it a privilege to walk through this journey with you, so that you may achieve a fuller, freer and happier life!
My "Mission" is to provide you with high quality and specialized psychotherapy to bring healing to your life and relationships. Time is of the essence, as you have probably struggled long enough to solve the issues in your life. I work to actively recognize those issues and repetitive patterns so that you can start to be aware of them and change them. Though you can't change the past, we can work together to better understand it and its impact on your present and future.
Relationship counseling is a large part of my practice focusing on helping couples recognize their emotional disconnection and learning to reconnect in a meaningful way. I teach couples to become better listeners and to resolve underlying conflicts. I also offer tools to maintain their relationship on a regular basis. Having a plan for each stage of your relationship is paramount to long term success!
Many individuals can experience traumatic events in their lives such as through an auto accident, death of a loved one, abuse or fear/ threat of death. Symptoms related to trauma include irritability, aggression, flashbacks, nightmares, difficulty sleeping, etc. For a full list of symptoms click here. We can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of healing through treatment approaches such as EMDR.
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, my goal is to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
"I have known Yoshimi for over 22 years. I have seen her turn around the lives of troubled youth, challenge her clients to make the critical choices needed, and genuinely care about each person she touches. She is sharp, highly emotionally intelligent and ethical in her professional and personal life."
"She is phenomenal. An extremely patient woman who knows when to speak at the right time, she is interested and provides invaluable insight. She has a way of making you realize what you never consciously thought of. This allowed me to look deep within and understand the reasons for my feelings. She will change your life."
"Thank you for helping me through what was a really dark time in my life. You were the first person to label the issues in my family honestly, and as it turned out, you hit the nail on the head. Thanks for helping me lay a foundation to become a stable person."
"In the years I have known Yoshimi, she has proved time and again that she is a leader. She is unafraid to go into the places that make everyone else uncomfortable, and as a result, she rebuilds your life to the point where it is unrecognizable. I am a testament to the gifts Yoshimi selflessly shares, gifts that most people are so unwilling to give to the very people who need it most, the broken and weak. Her character and very core flows with compassion, grace and love which makes her a great therapist. She has reshaped my life and helped plant seeds of positive changes that are still blossoming and growing to this day. During the many times I was unable to stand on my own, Yoshimi served as my rock, my foundation. Now that I am in a better place, I can walk and run on my own and truly appreciate the time that she invested in me."
"I wouldn't be where I am today without the therapeutic experience I had with Yoshimi. I am currently in MFT graduate school about to end my first year. Her lessons have stayed with me and will continue to for the rest of my life. She taught me about myself in a way I wasn't expecting, continuously and genuinely believed in me, and most of all gave me hope. I hope to one day have an effect on someone's life the way she has on mine."
